Jacek Szczypiorski Senior Captain, MSc Eng

The speaker

in crisis situations. He is the qualified paramedic in the field of “performing medical rescue activities and other healthcare activities in sudden risk of health situations and conducting education in this scope.” Since 2015 he has been the president of the Volunteer Fire Brigade Association, Sosnowiec Porąbka and Deputy Chairman of the Polish Society of Fire Protection Specialists, Katowice Branch –Zagłębie. It is also the fire protection specialist in Lesser Poland-Silesian Border Guard Unit in Racibórz.

Since 2005, he has been employed at the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Sosnowiec, initially as a junior specialist and currently as the Commander of Fire and Rescue Unit. During his tenure as Commander of Fire and Rescue Unit, he commanded  difficult and complex actions, among others, fire of the Cathedral Basilica of Blessed Virgin Mary (25 teams, 67 rescuers), the Palace of Wilhelm (26 teams, 69 rescuers), the fire of residential building in Sosnowiec (19 teams, 56 rescuers). Co-author of the article “Fire in residential buildings – are we really safe?” J. Wiche, J. Szczypiorski, Ochrona Przeciwpożarowa No. 4/15 (54). Author of many studies on the assessment of the risk of explosion. In 2012 he was awarded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration with Bronze Medal of Merit for Fire Protection.
